Tuition and Workshops 2010

Sculpture Workshop testimonials

From my studio on Tamborine Mountain I conduct intensive 3 day to 5 day sculpture workshops, covering the subject Sculpted Clay Portrait Busts , and also the Voluptuous, Female Torso. I travel extensively each year, both within Australia internationally, to teach the “Kate French Method” (see Upcoming Workshops))

During the course we hand build the carcass of the sculpture, proportion the basic shape, model facial features, hair, clothing, position the sculpture into a posture that reflects its subjects character and finally texture the sculpture to bring it up to a beautiful finish. You can expect to take a sculpture home at the end of the 3 days that is ready for drying and firing, but most importantly, you will have the skills needed to modify this technique for any hand building sculptural project. The course is packed full of simple, informative and easy demonstrations.

A fresh and delicious lunch is provided, plus tea , coffee and fresh biscuits throughout both days. Tools, and turntable are provided for your use. Two blocks of clay are supplied (additional clay is $18 per block and is available at my studio for purchase should you need it)). The course cost is $370 per person for the three day course. There is a minimum of seven and a maximum of ten students in each of my studio based courses. Numbers can vary at other venues. The course starts at 9.00 am and runs through to 4.30pm Saturdays and Sundays and Mondays, several times per year. Longer weekday workshops can be arranged for interested groups.
